I hunted in the snow this morning, it was a beautiful time to be out there. We put up a blind for next weekend, covered a lot of ground and didn't even see a rabbit track! Without a doubt this has been the worst year I've ever had deer hunting! BUT it all could change in the blink of a eye.

Left out here before 5 AM yesterday for Lawrence Co to hunt. I killed a big doe, then went on to work, and didn't make it back home til around 11 PM. Long successful day.

Well, since I don't do much small game hunting anymore my hunting is over for the year. Both Shelia and I got 2 does each. With the power out for a week I had to buy a generator to save all the meat.
I didn't bear hunt because I hadn't seen any sign or got a pic in the last 4 wks before the season. The big snow netted a great big ZERO bears harvested in KY's first season.
I will be picking up my trailcams later today...hopefully have a pic or two to keep my hopes up. My new leased property was great. None of us shot a deer, but hopefully will pay off BIG in the future.
Now it is time to sit back, watch UK basketball, and wait for the topwater striper action and SPRING TURKEY SEASON. ;D

Nice striper. I just find it hard to get in fishing mode this early.

We have fished a few times at night and caught several small stripers and a few keepers. I need to get back at taking pictures.
Hopefully the topwater bite will be in full swing in a week or two.

4-29-10 gobbler 9 1/2" & 1/2" I worked one bird earlier and figured the son of a gun must have been on the point across the road. Started back up the hill and heard one above me in the next holler. I set up in a field and spooked a deer right over where he was gobbling and the next time I heard him he had moved down the hill a couple of hundred yards and I could not get him to come up. I eventually snuck over the hill into the woods and called...he gobbled. I quickly set up and I heard him drumming to my right. I eventully saw THEM and they slowly came my direction. Unlike earlier this year I wasn't waiting on the perfect shot and when I could see one of their heads through the leaves...BANG. 25 yards away.

Dad and I took a kid fishing yesterday and battled wind and a bass fishing tourney, but did manage to catch a few. 2 drum, 1 25" striper, and a 19" and 20" smallie

Man, I need to get on the ball here.
Dad had kidney cancer surgery and was out of commision for awhile, so not much fishing this spring. However, we are heading to the lake tonight to fish in the morning. Hopefully I will get some pics up.
I checked my trail cams last night and got our first fawn pic and also got a nice buck. No great pics of him, but if he has brow tines he is already at least an 8. I haven't uploaded them yet.

Dad and I got to fish a little earlier in the week. We only managed 1 keeper for the trip...his first after kidney surgery.
