I've been hunting in the mornings/working in the evenings. I walked within 50 yards of a bear the size of the one in the above pic Tues. morning. I'm not sure if was the same one...about 1/2 mile from where the pic was taken. I PASSED on a 9 pt Wed. morning. Pic below. Yesterday I missed a gobbler with my bow. I blow all to pieces shooting at turks w/ a bow. Here is the 9 pt on my trail cam staring a real nice looking bowhunter about 12 yards away. LOL I also video taped him some while he was walking around. He stayed with me about 45 minutes. It's is good to finally have a place to let em grow. He would have been by far the biggest I've ever taken w/ a bow, but I have great visions for the future. ;D i318.photobucket.com/albums/mm415/storm1507/9pthunting031.jpg

I think you need help with both the buck and bear.......Just holler if you need anything. I'm after a good one, but he has not made a mistake yet. It could be another one of those seasons that I get stuck on one certain buck and end up eating tag soup! Wouldn't be the first time.

How big? Have you seen him hunting or trail cam pics? I saw one driving in this morning. LOL, 2 seconds before I saw him I was thinking about why I haven't seen any driving yet. He could have been the 9 pt just looked bigger due to swollen neck and my imagination, or it could have been a different one. ? Didn't see anything else. Only one doe pic on my trail cam in 2 days after moving it to a different location.

Fished some this week...only two small stripers. Gun deer season opens Sat. and I'm most looking forward to possibly seeing a bear while hunting.

Great day hunting today. Passed on a forkhorn and a decent 8. I also saw a few does/fawns. Shelia saw a buck of some sort. She didn't get a good look.
The jakes and even the older gobblers were hammering this morning. I even heard them cut off hen calls w/ gobbles.

I"m very happy with my new spot. I hunted close to a gas road that I had to drive in to drop Shelia off. So I took more "stuff" than normal. ;D Both bucks postured up to a decoy and I even had one doe circle back around doing some kind of "huff/cough" call. I've never heard that before. I've never used a decoy before, but I was impressed.
Church this morning and then hunt again this evening.

Still seeing some smaller bucks chasing does. Hopefully in a yr or two those will be nice bucks. I actually have my new lease under controll. I thought it would take a couple of years to get everyone to understand to stay off. Got a pic of this bruiser at 3:30 AM opening morning i318.photobucket.com/albums/mm415/storm1507/054-1.jpg

I had to go to the emergency room late Monday night for the first time in my life...puking and crapping. But, my main problem was I was COLD. I had never been that cold in my life. It was a viral infection with severe dehydration. They hooked me up to an IV and gave me a bag of fluid, phinigren, and morphine. I felt much better. ;D After I slept an hour or two they gave me another bag of fluid and I headed back home.
I sure hope my appetite kicks back in by this afternoon.

Only managed one plate full of food Thanksgiving and my stomach just said "no mas". But, I did get back in the swing of things for Red Lobster Friday. Shelia and I hunted yesterday and she got another doe, so that's is 3 for the freezer. We could use one more, but 3 will do fine. Whoever had been cutting my steps to my stand and locking up a ladder finally couldn't handle the pressure anymore and destroyed the stand completely. There are sure some lowlifes in this world. I hunted from the ground and missed a doe and passed on a 7 pt. But, I did make it back in time to watch the KY-Tenn football game.

We are getting our first snow of the year this morning. After the UK/NC basketball game I might go to my new property and look around for fresh tracks. I have not gotten any bear pics or seen any sign for about 2 wks now. Season opens 2 wks from today.
