That you've ever encountered out in the woods while hunting? Mine would probably be finding a drunk passed out under my treestand before daylight one morning, or being stalked by a good sized bobcat, or maybe it was the chipmunk stealing my hunting license out of my fanny pack. (had to run the sucker down) Heck, if a person is in the woods enough you could run into just about anything!

I was attacked by a Merlin hawk twice while elk hunting two years ago.I had to duck on the first attack,it came at me with its talons out.It was nearly in my face when I saw it,it then circled and came back at me and knocked my hat off my head.

With the hawk stories.........
I was in my stand and a Red-tailed hawk had a rabbit in his claws while he was perched on a fence post. There were 2 buzzards that kept dive bombing him trying to get him to drop the rabbit. The Red-tail never flinched a mussle until one of the buzzards got too close to his head at wich point he dropped the rabbit and took down the buzzard and killed it. It was like that hawk did a Bruce Lee back flip and snatched that buzzard out of the air by his neck and head.
That was prolly the very coolest thing I ever saw in the woods.

Did it happen to look like this? This picture was taken last Saturday right outside my driveway. This thing was HUGE, as compared with the roadsign it's sitting on.

I haven't had anything too odd happen while deer hunting. The strangest thing I had was an owl landed on a limb of the tree I was bow hunting in. He wasn't ten feet from me and he just sat there staring at me. I finally waved my bow at him and left. I did see a nice buck run into a briar bed and turn into three does. The dogs came down the hill and ran the does and the buck reappeared at the top of the hill and went right back where the dogs had just come from.

My husband saw a Bobcat being chased by an Armadillo through the woods. He said the Bobcat jumped up on a stump and turned around and looked at the Armadillo, like "What the heck's the matter with you?"
I saw two Armadillos fighting. That WAS a hoot.
He's had a dove land on his shoulder (while on the stand), a squirrel try to sit on his shoulder, and a hawk try to sit on his shoulder.
I had a big ole owl swoop down on me and start to land on me til I threw up my arms at him. He was more shocked than I was, but he had some SERIOUS talons on those feet.
