Got a ? for ya'll. This may be long so bear with me. My father-in-law has a piece of property he has leased to the same group of guys for about 4 years. In March he told them he was not going to lease it to them this year that he was either going to sell it or cut the timber off of it. Never heard from them again. In June he decided to cut the timber and they started cutting in about the middle June. After they had been cutting for a few days I rode around the property and I noticed a couple of stands. My father-in-law said he had told them to get them in March and knowing the loggers were either going to take them or tear them down I went back and took several of them down and took them to my farm, my father -in-law lives on the property adjacent and has free access to my property. Anyhow I told my father-in-law if the guys called in a reasonable amount of time they could have them all back no problem. This was probably last week of June maybe first week of July. Anyhow went up last week and still had not heard from the guys. My father-in-law called today and said the guys called raising hell about their stands and he told them I took them to keep them from being destroyed and as far as he was concerned they gave up all rights to them but that he would call me and see what I wanted to do with them. Part of me thinks they are outta luck and part of me thinks give them back to them. What do ya'll think.

If he told them in March to get them and they would have been taken or destroyed by now anyways, i'd say they are out of luck. They should have known that they couldnt leave them hanging on property that they no longer leased right up until season opened....

If it were me, I would hold on to them/use them until they came and got them, then I would give them back. But that's just me.
