Anyone own one? I bought one from Cabela's last week in the regular M4 configuration. I'll need to get optics for it. Most of the folks on the AR forums that don't own one advise against the DPMS but the folks that own em, love em. I just wanted to see if any of you guys have one or have had one and how you liked it.

My reputation: I started and run the largest Group on one of the big gun forums, ex-military (SpecOps) including Armorers' School when I was an EM, ex-SWaT, and have worked in gunshops for the past 30+ years. I use DPMS lower kits for all of my builds: never a problem. I've set-up many, many DPMS ARs (7.62 et al), and have seen few, if any problems (almost exclusively attributable to magazines or ammo) and have this to say: I love Olympics. The "Big Guy" of our forum satstes "Olympics are bottom feeders! They never made a rifle for the US military! FACT!" Said I was a liar when I said otherwise, even tho I told him that I had been issued an Olympic, as had one of my partners in shooting. Always picks a fight, and states that Oly's are junk, when anyone asks about "which AR should I buy?" and mentions that TW from Miss guy in his diatribe. It's much like the Springfield XD -vs- Glock thing. People who like the BIG NAMES always hate the ones that are beating them price-wise and making an equally high quality weapon. DPMS has had no more problems than anyone else. These are machines; at times, they fail! Get over it, and set it up the best that you can, and deal with the FTF's that occur, seldom but do occur, is what I tell people.
You should have long life and loads of fun with your DPMS. It's a high quality weapon, and will see you through the Zombie Hoards that everyone seems to love, these days. Belatedly, congrats on your purchase! I hope it serves you as well as the many that I have seen carried by AR shooters.

Thanks for the response. I've had the rifle for a year now and put about 700 rounds through it. It WILL shoot sub MOA groups and it has NEVER jammed, misfed or malfunctioned. I am SO impressed with it that I will probably buy my AR-10 from DMPS too.
