I was just out doing some scouting this morning with my wife, looking for my mule deer buck. We were glassing a coulee that looked empty when all of a sudden three white tail bucks just appeared. I was watching them through the spotting scope when my wife spotted five more deer coming out of the creek bottom, I swung the scope over to them and see they're all bucks too and one is a cranker. Two of the others are quite respectable. Seven doe's come out behind the five bucks and they all feed up from the bottom of the coulee into a stubble field. Then seven mule deer come out, two small three points and five doe's, and feed right in with the white tails. A couple of the smaller white tail bucks put their antlers together testing each other but other than that they showed no prerut activity. A couple more weeks and it will be a different story. This has got me all excited, I didn't see the mule buck I'm looking for but there's three white tail bucks that have my attention. Come November 3rd, watch out.
