Got my first bird about 10:15 this morning. Moved to him about 9 and spooked a deer right over top of him.  He gobbled some more to me, but moved farther away and then quit. Gave him about 30 min and slipped over the hill and got about 75 yards closer, called hard, he gobbled. I heard strutting within a couple of minutes and there were two. Now there is one. 9 1/2" beard, 1/2" spurs. I may be heading to the lake this evening, so I will get pics up later. |

Congrats! There's no greater feeling than calling one in and then nailing him! 9 1/2" beard is SWEET! They're predicting heavy rain tomorrow, so don't know if I'm going or not. Seems the day's I'm able to go, the weather turns Sucky! Maybe it's a conspiracy?  |

It wasn't very heavy...I would guess 17 or 18.

I thought it was one of those new breed fan tailed rubber neck chickens at first. ;D Just Kidding or maybe envious....lol
I'm on vacation next week so there's still hope!

Congrats to Shelia. As turkey season is winding down so am I. I might have one hunt left in me....not for sure.
I just cant seem to get one to gobble less than four miles away this year.
