How does the 2010 spring season stack up in your state?
I've killed one so far here in Georgia, but between the rain and the wind and in some cases cold, I think this season will not be as good as some of the past years.
I'm hearing stories from other hunters here who are saying the same thing.

I only got to go three times and had hot birds two of those times. I don't know what you have heard about Arkansas turkeys but this has been the best season I have been a part of in a long, long time. (even tho I didnt kill one)

I don't know what you have heard about Arkansas turkeys but this has been the best season I have been a part of in a long, long time. (even tho I didnt kill one) Most of my family are from Arkansas, but none of them turkey hunt! They're ALL duck hunters! They hunt around Newport, McCrory and Wynn. Back in 1997 I shot a 17lb 3oz gobbler not far from Batesville and in 2000 I shot one near Mountain Home that I didn't get a chance to weigh on certified scales, but the ones I weighed him on said he was 20lbs even. Personally I thought he was closer to 18lbs myself, but who's going to argue. Both birds had beards right at the 5" mark and their spurs were about an 1 3/8" Most of my Family are in Newport, Batesville, Hot Springs and Little Rock. Where do you live? ...And how do you think the Razorbacks are going to do this season? I know they had their spring game the other day, but I haven't seen it on SportsSouth yet. If I don't go turkey hunting this weekend I'm going to stay in and watch it! ;D

I am in NW Arkansas, just north of Fayetteville. The HOGS scare me to death this year, mainly because we should be loaded and everyone is predicting them to compete for the SEC title. I can't see them getting past a brutal schedule. The spring game was ok, our defense looked better than I thought it would. Our pre-season All-American quaterback, Ryan Mallett, did not play (broke his foot over the winter).

This is the first year in several years that we have had turkeys back on our property. One of the neighboring leases shot all the turkeys out of their roost a few years back and they never came back. All we saw this year was hens but we know the boys are there. Just have not seen one just yet.

I managed to get 1 more in middle Georgia this past Saturday. I was working one who got chased off the decoy by a second one and I was able to tag him.
I didn't have scales but he was around 18lbs give or take. Beard was around 8-9" and his spurs were about an 1 1/4"- 1 1/3".
The weather last week was the first time I'd gone this season where you felt it was spring turkey weather. Before that it was either too cold, too windy or raining or a combo of all three!
Season goes out May 15 here, and the limit is three, but don't know if I'll go back this weekend or go fishing.
mr4pt! They had the Georgia spring game a few weeks ago and the SECOND team offense beat the FIRST team defense.
There were several fights between players. They played three quarterbacks and the only one who showed any poise or ability was KICKED OFF the team the following week. I think for his second or third drinking violation.
The Hogs play the Dogs Sept. 19th in Athens. So don't be surprised if they go back to Fayetville with a win. Truth is, they SHOULD have beat Georgia last year.
