Due to the storms we have had Jamie has had to work on all the downed trees during spring break. So I picked Hailey up at 545 this AM and took her Turkey hunting. I thought it was gonna be a bust. We didnt hear anything responding to my owl hoots. So we walked until I liked the way it looked and sat down. Made some calls on the slate and nothing.... Sat there about 10 minutes after putting the dekes up about 15yds in front of us. Made a call on the diaphram and he lit up right in our laps! Called a few more times and I could see 2 long beards coming in. For some reason they both hung up at around 25-30yds from Hailey. I told her I was going to try to get them closer and was cutting/purring. They stood there staring at the decoys. I told Hailey if she thought they were going to leave to try it. The bigger one turned around and she missed... I wish I had gave her my Gold to shoot now... Anyway, it was about the most fun Ive had Turkey hunting, and she got to shoot at her first and heard her first gobble. I honestly think it was the heaviest bird Ive ever called in. It looked huge....
