Our Bass Pro Shop opened here yesterday and all's I can say is "WOW".
150,000 sq. feet of outdoors fun.The Missus and I spent about 3 hours in there just walking around. The wildlife displays are fantastic.The center piece is about 20 bull caribou on the run being chased by 5 wolves.Then there are 2 bull moose fighting with one of the bulls being knocked to the ground and a cow moose standing and watching.My fave though is a big 6 point bull jumping a barb wire fence with another big bull in hot pursuit and 4 cows watching,unbelievable taxidermy work.Another neat feature is the 70,000 gallon aquarium stocked with all the game fish in our area, rainbows,cutthroats,browns and brook trout.Then there's northern pike,walleye and yellow perch.
The clothing prices are great, cheaper than the prices at the 2 bigger sporting goods stores in Calgary.A lot of other prices for merchandise are competitive and others are too high like the reloading components.I about fell over when I picked up a box of Hornady bullets in 338 225gr and they were 15 bucks higher than where I just bought some. Scope prices seem to be cheaper but it's a moot point seeing as I just bought one and Bass Pro isn't carrying that particular model.
The grand opening is April 8 so I'll be there to see if there will be some good deals.
