In one of the area's I call in, and were my family has our horses, we have been having some issues with the coyotes for the last 3 weeks. The farmer also has Highland cattle. Well the cattle have gone through the fences, and so have the horses cutting them up. Well last night while I am at work the farmer calls me and says Donald, I think I know what the problem is with the animals; I replied and told him it is the damn coyotes . He then told me yah there is one in the barn: shocked:. His girlfriend heard the horses and chickens making a ruckus, as she walk through the barn, she did not see anything until she started to climb over one of the wooden feed benches. As she looks down the coyote look up and took off towards the field. She said the coyote stood in the field for like 5 min and then started heading beck to the barn. Well she ran back to the house and got her 22, and snuck back out there. As she entered the same way the coyote was in the same spot but took off a little sooner, and was able to get 2 shots off at it, but she said she was so nervous that she did not connect with it. After her shooting she watches it and it did the same thing as before (came back towards the barn: confused . Well I told them just to stay in the house until I get there. I left work and got to there place so they could tell me again what had all happened. I grabbed the loaded 12 out of the truck with #4 Buckshot and headed to the barn. Her and I entered the same why she did both times, but I snuck around in front were the coyote was making his escape to be ready. As the farmers GF look over the feed bunk he was laying all curled up sleeping. She then got next to me with the light as we walk around corner to him and sure enough there he was. I told her she was going to shot him( being that she had the courage to go back out and throw some lead at him ) Well after I gave her the shotgun and I took the light I told her to aim for his head and just squeeze. This is were the fun started the coyote jump up and she shot( a clean miss) hitting the ground between his feet, turning him to try to make a exit through a small opening in the barn sliding, well that did not work for him and this is were the HANDS on, came into play. I ran up on him and grabbed his tail and back legs and pulled back into the barn. As I did that the I was thinking this is going to be fun LOL. After wrestling around for 15 min he got tired out and so did I, but he to crawling under some pallets giving me a shot to grab by the scruff of the neck with the farmers GF help. It worked and we were able to get him out to the Dog Box in the back of my vehicle. After that was done she started you: D and she said Donald you give a new meaning to trapping and coyote hunting :thumb:. Well we had a beverage for winning this battle and I headed home, to deal with the next fun part getting him out. Well there was no chance in H*&^ that was going to happen and my Choc lab wanted him in the worst way, but I told him no LOL. The 5mm Pellet rifle put the ending to him. After skinning and checking out his Dental work He was OLD and I mean OLD. His K-9s were very worn down and was missing all his very front teeth. I am guessing that he got push out of the area by younger stronger coyotes. I have not been to the scanner let to get the pics on here but, the pic of him in the back of the dog box will be here soon. If I knew how I would put the video on here of him in the Dog box
