My archery season didn't go well for me this year.Been hunting a big mule deer buck that I really wanted.I put 4 different stalks on him over a period of 2 weeks.Twice I got busted and two times I backed out to try another time as conditions didn't warrant a shot. Finally on the fifth time I caught him feeding up a fence line going up a draw.I made a good stalk and got into an ambush location and he fed to within 40 yards.I drew when he put his head down and let fly.The range was good and the arrow was on track when I hear a metallic twang and see my arrow deflect almost straight up.I couldn't believe it,I hit the third strand of barbwire,DOH! The buck jumped and headed over the top of the draw and I never seen him again till last night but the archery season was over and I can't rifle hunt in that zone for mule deer because they're on a draw . Missed a smaller but real nice 4x4 buck on the second to last day of the archery season.Miss judged the distance and shot over his back. Then on the last day I never saw a shooter buck and was going to take a doe for the freezer.Put a stalk on a herd of 15 does and two small bucks and drew on a fat mature doe at 37 yards and got a deflection off a branch I didn't see. All in all it was a fun archery season.I hunted 17 days and got onto game just about every time and learned loads about these mule deer and their habits.Looking forward to next year.

Sounds like a fun season. I'm still out there for awhile, just not a whole lot of action for me so far this year.

i wish the only thing i had to worry about was hitting barbedwire... i could be standin' five yards away from the biggest buck in the world in an open field with him lookin' right away and I'd miss.... i never have been able to shoot a bow very good... guess that's why i let my dogs put all my game up a tree for me.
