From what I've saw on the net and in the local paper the county I live in and two more eastern KY counties will have a bear hunt in 2009. I think it will be only two days and only 10 or so bears will be taken.
I'm not sure if the tags/permits will be over the counter or if some sort of drawing will be held.
I don't think dogs or baiting will be allowed, but I'll bet atleast half of the bear killed will be shot eating out of somebodys garbage can or walking through their yard.

Yall got a good amount of bears?
We've had season for as long as I can remember, we can bait on private land, and I know several guys that fill their tags every year. I've just never had much desire to shoot one. Don't get me wrong, if one comes by my stand while I'm deer hunting and it happens to be bear season....I'll be bear hunting.

Yall got a good amount of bears? It just depends on where you live at around here. While I've not seen any around here close to the house some folks have, and I have seen a track ot two in the last few years. I have a cousin that lives 20 or so miles from here and they see them all the time. They have them on video and have to keep them run off of their porch. |

I have been hoping and pushing for a season here for several years. Unfortunately, they will not allow hunting on the WMA  . Unbelievable..........I may have to start setting my garbage back out on the ground instead of the chain link fence bin I have. |
