I was just wondering how many of you hunters feed corn this time of year and if not why?

Just started last week. I am using it as a way to determine deer traffic in an area before planting a food plot.
It is 'semi-legal' to bait deer in Georgia. As long as the bait is over 200 yards from & not in sight of the hunter. (pg.8 of the 2004-2005 Georgia hunting regulations).

I try to keep feeders going all year on both my leases. I hunt over the feeders for hogs but for deer I have found its best to hunt trails going to and from, just like any other food source. Oh an Noonebil the wardens in Ga. will measure the distance from a stand to a feeder, I found that out last year, my stand was 192yrds but the warden cut me some slack but I did have to move the feeder.

Yeah, there are some real tailholes here. Some are very helpful & others are just out to write citations. Like the bumpersticker says: Welcome to Georgia, Owned & Operated by the DNR!

I grew up in La. Its legal to bait there. I don't like it myself. After the gun season opens the deer feed on the corn at night from what I've seen. I like food plots better because I think they give better quality food to the deer. I just don't feel right setting over a pile of corn & calling it deer hunting. I'd rather find their trails & try to ambush them there. Nothing beats scouting & knowing your hunting areas. Just my 2 cents.

I feed corn most if not all of the year along with a biologic food plot that I plant a month before the first frost. So far working good and gunna start putting salt blocks out as well.-tim
