My father in law says Platoon comes the closest to what Nam was like and I say Full Metal Jacket comes the closest to what boot camp was like on Paris Island. My Great Uncle says Saving private Ryan or Band of brothers come close but then he starts on about John Wayne and it all depended on where you were,,,.I like all these films but none are my favorite..
Tombstone and Dances with Wolves are probably my favorites....What is/are your favorite(s)?

Which Tombstone? Kevin Costner or Kurt Russell? I like them both for different reasons. Val Kilmer made a great Doc Holliday. "You're a daisy if you do."

;D There I go exposing my limited movie knowledge. I'll go rent a movie and get home and my wife will point out that we've rented it before. "Oh, so did I like it?"
I thought the Kurt Russell one was better too but I had to think a while before I could remember his name.
