Blue, i did a 1/4 mount bear and it turned out awesome like yours. The only difference is i had the front legs with it, but then i sold it to my cousin that wanted to decorate his cabin. That bear looks very nice my friend.

The taxidermist who did this one did a half mount of a huge black bear. It's charging with his front legs out in front of him and snarling, only thing missing is the bad breath and the slobber .It's just scary to see this thing coming out of the wall.I'll do my next one like that ;D.

Gotres asked for details awhile back and I finally got around to it.Here goes.
It was day five of a ten day hunt down in southern Alberta. We were elk hunting primarily but it was also open for both deer and of course bear.
We hunted the morning until about eleven a.m. and it was getting warm,it was mid September, and we were hungry so decided to go back to camp for a late breakfast.
After breakfast we decided to go up to a cutblock and cut some firewood. On the way there we stopped to glass a grassy ridge where we see elk frequently.Just as soon as I got my binos up and focused I saw this bear feeding above the timberline. We first thought he was a grizzly because of his size and color.I pulled out my spotting scope and soon realized he was a big black bear.We made a stalk on him, almost a half mile straight up.It was so steep you could put your arm out and lean on the hill, seriously!
We came out of the timber and couldn't see the bear.I went up to the next bench and spotted him as he fed from behind a rock outcrop.I was still 500 yards from him and no cover to conceal in.I dropped back down below his sight and ran along a deep ravine to try and cut him off. When I topped out again we were only 300 yards apart and I decided to take the shot.He was quartering away from me and the first shot went thru and broke his opposite shoulder. That sent him in a sommersault down the rock scree for a 100 yards and then he came to a halt with his hind end on the uphill side and trying to stand up on his good leg.I shot him again and this time he went down and rolled all the way to the bottom of an avalanche chute into the timber below, about 500 yards.
It was a half hour later when we got to the timberline where I saw him go in.I expected to find him piled up in the alders but couldn't see him. After 10 minutes of looking we were wondering if we were in the right spot.I was calling for my buddy to see if he found any sign, when all of a sudden he says "Be quiet".Then I hear a moan and walked toward the sound.
I see him laying in the under brush and walk in for a clear look when he just roars and starts thrashing around.I bout soiled my drawers right there.I did manage to regain my composure and shot him and killed him at less than 10 yards. After skinning him we saw he couldn't have done anything, his back was broke,my second shot and my first shot had broke his front shoulder.
We lashed his hide to an aspen pole and then started the heavy walk out to the road, that was harder than the uphill climb.
Two days later my partner kills his first bear right above our camp,a beauutiful red coated black. 198.53.35.76
