My walker has become infested. I just cleaned out her pen real good. Im about to die, its already 90.... I havent thought much about fleas, because I kept checking for ticks and havent seen any at all. But they have found her. I sprayed her real good yesterday and today with the Adams flea spray and put a flea collar on her. Ever tried to spray a 90+ pound Walker that didnt want to be sprayed, and hold the leash too?

I take mine to the vet to be dipped and and clean the pen with hot sopay water every other day until I'm sure they are gone. Then its every other week or so with the water.

We're lucky,we don't have fleas here, just ticks and they're not bad. Ever try pulling quills from a 45 pound dogs nose that doesn't want you to.My freinds Brit spaniel got about a dozen in his nose on a pheasant hunt.I'd have never thought that two men who's combined weight is almost 500 pounds couldn't hold down a little dog and pull quills.

LOL. I dont have a concrete pen, its just a dirt floor. I dug down an inch or so, until I had hard dirt.

When I had a dirt pen I used Diazanon. I would take the dogs out of the pen for 4-6 hours and wet the dirt with water from the hose before I put them back in. Of course you can't get Diazanon anymore so I don't know what I would do now. For the dogs the dogs the only time we had a real problem I used Interceptor from the vet. I have a concrete pad now I don't have flea or parasite problems to speak of.

I had to give mine a bath, that was fun, and then I used some of that spot treatment you get from Wal-Mart. Then I sprayed them, that was fun to. But all that got rid of the fleas. I also sprayed the yard with some stuff I got from Lowes. The vet said all you have to do is spray the dark places that is where the fleas live.

Fleas cannot stand hickory oil. The best source for such is crushed green hickory shells, second best is crushed leaves. I have even had success with hickory branches before.

I HAD AN OLDER FELLOW TO LET ME IN ON HIS SECRET AND I MUST SAY THAT IT WORKS MIRACLES... YOU CAN GO TO LOWES, HOME DEPOT, OR WAL-MART AND PICK UP BAYER COMPLETE INSECT SPRAY, AND BAYER TREE AND SHRUB..BOTH WILL BE IN A BLUE BOTTLE AND ONE WILL HOOK UP TO YOUR WATER HOSE... FIRST, GIVE THE DOGS A GOOD BATH, AND DRY THEM OFF, AFTER THE DOG IS COMPLETELY DRY, TAKE THE BAYER TREE AND SHRUB AND SHAKE IT UP AND APPLY 1-3 CAPFULLS AND RUB THE SOLUTION ALL OVER THEIR CHEST AND BELLIES, SPRAY THE YARD WITH THE BAYER COMPLETE INSECT KILLER AND PRESTO THE FLEAS, TICKS, ETC. ARE GONE... I REALIZE THAT IT MAY SOUND A BIT CRAZY, BUT TRY IT ONE TIME AND SEE THE RESULTS.. YOU CAN THEN JUST SIMPLY RE-APPLY THE TREE AND SHRUB SOLUTION ABOUT EVERY 2-3 WEEKS IF THE DOG IS HUNTED AND CONSTANTLY GETS WET...DANIEL
