More of a reminder than a tip, always carry atleast one flashlight to the woods with you and some surveyers tape to mark a blood trail. One of the guys on my lease shot a doe yesterday and trailed it and found it. Then he goes to get his truck and drag rope and it got dark and he couldn't find the deer again because he hadn't marked the trail and didn't have a flahlight, luckily we found it this morning.

Luckily the weather was cold enough that it didnt ruin.
I always carry one of those red light flashing thingamajiggers to stick to a tree and use toilet paper to mark the blood trail .
