SH, if you have any amount of meat to grind, they suck. Your better off spending a little more, and getting a bigger grinder. I made mine. I took a 1/2 HP electric motor with forward and reverse, hooked it to a cast iron hand grinder with the help of a pulley and a drive belt. It's all mounted on a 2x8" board, 5 feet long. It will grind anything you throw in it.

Could you post a pic of yours Bucktales? I've been thinking about fixing one like that and it would give me a good idea on how to fix it.

The wifey is getting me the stainless steel one for Christmas. I guess I've been a good boy this year.

Anybody got any suggestions for a good one to buy? I processed my deer myself this year and using a hand grinder was the hardest thing about it.

There's no way I would use a hand grinder in this day and age. SH has had his for 2 years now. So how do you like it?

It's the cats a$$. We made about 110lbs. of sausage two years ago right after I got it. It only took 300 minutes to run the meat through on the first pass. Now on the second pass it didn't do as well with the sausage stuffing tube on it. When I grind a whole deer(minus the hams and backstraps) it takes me 30 minutes tops for to passes. The only downside is the thing weighs like 75lbs. They still sell this one at Northen Tool.

Just get at least a 1/2 hp. 3/4 to 1 is even better. I originally bought a cheap Oster meat grinder and it doesnt do the job very well. Cabelas has some good ones.

I've been thinking pretty hard about the 3/4 one from Cabelas.
