Looks like there may be a couple of new units around Krum to hunt.
Wanna meet up Friday morning?
I think I'm gonna take that day off and hunt all day before the morons come out on Saturday.

There are places W of 35 in the north and south zones but none of the special dove leases in the central. There Krum is still on there and there are several places east of me, but I don't know if you'd need a gun b/c there are no birds. I'm going to go scout a little this weekend if I can. Too much going on at the office to get away much.
I suppose I'll be somewhere around Krum on opening morning. We oughta hook up for awhile. I'll post if I get a chance to go look at any of the places out there. I'd think I'd probably lean towards one of those two spots just west of town - can't remember the names but I'll try to check them out and post later.

Can't make it. I've been after my homebuilder to get some warranty work done and the clown has been ducking me. I finally pinned him down and the only day he can get to me is 9/01 am. If he no-shows on me and I miss opening morning for nothing, y'all are going to see the grisly carnage on the national news and 'll be posting from the Collin Co jail.
We're heading to the in-laws after Gomer finishes up and I'll be taking out some serious home repair & work-related frustration on any dove unfortunate enough to come within 40 yards.
SH, you're welcome anytime but there would be better years to come. I hope you make it over someday to shoot and have some cold adult beverages afterwards. I'm not optimistic about the shooting this year with the drought and the lack of standing crops.
Hunt, West Krum looked better than Hickory Creek. Both look like they were planted in corn but both are long since cut, baled and turned under - nothing but rocks and that famous black dirt. Whatever the place is that's about 1/4 mile northwest of Hickory Creek looked better than anything else. It's the biggest place around and it's at the corner of Pruett Rd and 1173 (the highway that runs through Krum). Just follow 1173 past West Krum and the cutoff to Hickory Creek and it'll turn north. Pruett Rd will be about 3 or 4 miles on the left and the place is at the SW corner. It's still in pasture but it looks like they had something planted that might still be there. I'd hunt from the trees that are about 200 yds south of Pruett Rd and just wst of the sign in station. Other than that, I'd hunt the treeline on the west side of West Krum and hope to catch something going from the tank past the southern boundry to the sunflowers past the west boundry. It'll be brutal early morning shooting with the sun right in your eyes though. Don't forget that you have to register on-site at all of those places this year. There should be forms there or you can get one out of the map book or print one from the TX Parks & Wildlife website.

I'm thinkin I may pay $40 and head over to Olney area at some point maybe mid September. Find a cheap room and hunt for a couple of days. You're welcome to come along on that one.
