Where did you go and how did you do?
I went to a public hunting spot about 45 mins west of here, but I only made the afternoon hunt. H4 called me yesterday morning and had gotten 11 out there. They didn't fly quite as strong yesterday evening and I wound up with 6. Not bad for north Tx.
I'm heading to West Tx tomorrow to hunt San Angelo for the weekend. That's usually some really good bird country.
Hope everyone had a great opener and y'all have a safe and happy labor day.

GA and SC open this Saturday at noon. My club will be having a dove shoot but I'll be working. We don't know yet if we will be shooting Monday morning or not. If they shoot Monday morning I'll there with bells on, and I'll have the 3 1/2" Magnum with me. (That would be my lab Maggie. )

Cool SH. Hope you & Maggie get to go after 'em. Let me know how she does. Belle went with me yesterday for her first experience with live (well, you know ) birds. She's always been fine around the shooting, but she was apprehensive when she'd sniff them. I put some wings in the freezer to dry them out and I'll work her with those after the real season wraps up. She had a blast though and she did find one bird that I had no idea where it fell. One guy was telling me that I had gone way too far from where he thought it was but then Belle locked up on point about 15 yards ahead of me. She had found it. One proud papa. ;D

Yeah man. There are two really good fields on Yuchi WMA. Go out Hwy 56 past Mcbeam. Turn left onto 56 Spur (there is a sign that says Plant Vogtle) right after you cross Mcbeam Creek. Go about 10 miles until you see the Plant Vogtle entrance. You can turn right onto Ebenezer Church road and go down about 4-5 miles and there is one field on your right. Or go past the Vogtle entrance and stay on that road stay right at the fork. The road turns into a dirt road just past the Vogtle Training center. The other field is a half a mile on the left. Last year they sunflowers, millet, grain sorgham, and corn is those fields. They did a bang up job of cutting strips and laying the fields out for a big crowd. I heard they had a good shoot too, after I left. I'll be at the store around 9:30-10:00 call me if you need better directions. I would say call me earlier but I'll be on Clarks Hill shooting geese in the morning. If you want to go shoot geese with me one morning let me know. Geese are in from Sept. 4th-Sept.22nd. I'm gonna try and go three mornings a week.
