Went out yesterday morning for a duck shoot and we did pretty good.Got in too late to set dekes but the pass shooting was worth it.Loads of mallards every where.I got 6 green heads and my pard got 7 and one shoveler. We shot till 10:00,pard got too cold after he took an unexpected dip in the slough. He was taking a high overhead shot and when he touched off he lost his balance. All's I heard was @#$% and when I turned to see what happened he wasn't standing where I last saw him.We were standing in 3 feet of water in the cat tails. His chest waders saved him from a thorough soaking but got wet enough to make it uncomfortable.
Came home and plucked ducks till 1:00 and my other pard calls and wants to go out for the evening shoot. It wasn't near as good as the morning but we got a few.I got a double on redheads and one gadwal, pard got a couple mallard drakes.Unfortunately no geese, only saw 3 flights but they were too far off for us to shoot.
The birds have really been educated, they're flying high and are dumping their air only after they're over the middle of the slough and come in on a combat landing.

I want to come up there and shoot at 'em before they run the gauntlet to get to me.
Y'all put out goose dekes in your spread? Did either of you have goose call?

SH,I usually do put out goose dekes but that day I didn't bring any out.I've only got a dozen super magnum dekes, would like to have more but they're expensive here. Now that the Canuck buck is equal to the greenback maybe I'll have to see what Cabelas has to offer.
