STAMPEED
We made camp along Red River,
Watched the cattle as they beded down.
Back at the wagons right after supper,
sread our bed rolls on the ground.
Me and Willy we took the night gaurd,
And the sagied never smelled so sweet.
The prairy moon was blazen silver,
No chance tonight for a stampeed.
Way over yander off in the distance,
turwds the mountains there in the west.
Did i see lighting, did i hear thunder?
My mind is wiery i could use some rest.
Then all at once the wind shifts directions,
The clouds roll in behind the tumble weed.
These long horn cattle are gettin resless,
God help us all if they stampeed!
Smell the rain hear the thunder,
The midnight sky turns black as death.
Lighting crashes smell the sulfer,
Its ranken stong with satins breath.
The cattle rise up and go to runnin,
I spur my pony on to take the lead.
And across the heard i can hear Willy yellen,
HEY STAMPEED!
Dust clouds rise as the rain falls,
They mix together turn the air to mud.
I feel a long horn brush against me,
And i can feel the deamons racin through my blood.
Than all at once my pony stumbles,
We hit the ground i rise up to my knees,
In a flash of light i can see the cattle coming.
Lord i know i am going to die in this stampeed.
Then i awake and i look around me,
I'm in my bed roll,
And i am layen on the ground.
Over theres the wagon,
And theres the camp fire.
I was only dreamen,
But whats that sound?
Then i feel the earth treamble under neath me,
As the midnight sky begins to bleed,
And from the blackness i can hear Willy yellen,
HEY STAMPEED!!!!
