I hunted this place two weeks ago on Monday morning and woddies were roosting there and I caught them leaving. I couldn't get a shot or call them in to my spread. I hunted it this morning and 9 flew in and circled my spread twice but never came within 50 yards(my shooting range). I'm gonna try it again in the morning in a different spot and I think I'll get a shot. I hunted a place about three miles as the crow flies from this place this evening but no ducks came in until after legal shooting time. It was pretty exciting watching about 70 woodies coming in there even though I couldn't shoot. My crazy dog saw a huge beaver swimming in the pond and he wanted to go after him real bad. That big old beaver would have drown his goofy butt I'm sure.

Good lookin slough.
I don't know what it is with GSP's and beavers. My buddies shorthair has a thing for tryin to catch them, can hardly call him off them.A couple years back we thought he was going to drown.A session with a shock collar persuaded him to listen the next time he was called in.

Looks nice now lets see some dead birds in the pic. This is all I could recover this morning. There is a shot up woodie drake out there some where my goofy dog would not retrieve.

I almost pooped myself when these teal showed up. I had missed any good shots on several groups of woodies( they come in from a different direction everyday) and then holy crap green winged teal come circling my spread. And I called 'em in with my wood duck call no less!

Deer season is over tomorrow and I can go in there now whenever I want. I'll let y'all know if the big ducks are flying in there Wednesday.
This hole is in the part of our club where we run dogs for deer so I could only go in there on non dog hunting days.

I went yesterday and today. I have killed nothing! I saw plenty of woodies yesterday but I didn't get a shot. Today I hit two woodies solidly and no kill. That's when I realized I still had my cylinder choke tube in from going quail hunting yesterday. As to the big ducks I still haven't seen any here yet. I did see three Canada's this morning. I was about to give it up a get up the dekes when I heard geese honking. Of course my goose call was in the truck and the dekes were at home. I mean look at the pictures. Does this look like a place where geese would be? Anyway I managed to get them to come by me using my Primo's P.H.A.T. Lady with a feeder call. Blammo I hit one goose and of he went to the creek. I ain't seen that rascal again.
My waterfowling is almost becoming a sitcom this year. Can one of y'all please come kill some birds for me. I'll put you on them, all you have to do is shoot good.
