You know those fancy $150 and up calls. I just have cheapo Knight and Hale calls. I have wood duck call and standard duck I think I paid $15-20 each for. I have wooden goose call that I paid $20 for.

I have a few. I have a blue devil rich-n-tone that was $130 and then I have a rich-n-tone goose call that was $145 and they were worth every penny. I also ahve the cheaper calls like the primos yo sista that was around $20 and its just as good.

Biggie...if the cheap one is just as good then why pay the big bucks? Did you have the expensive ones first?

LOL @ Mud......
I've been waitn for a reason to go spend a Winter with Blue.
I use Big River Game Calls.....cheap and if ya lose one in the dark, ya don't want to suck buckshot out of the barrel.

There is a difference...but if you dont want to spend the big bucks, then take your cheap poly call, and replace the plastic "cork" with real cork. It will make a noticeable difference.
And yes, poly calls need tuning every year also. Get yourself some extra reeds, and play around with different cut lengths, etc....you may surprise yourself.
I like RNT/TIMBRE acrylics, but there are others as good if not better. There easier to blow true notes on than cheaper calls, and will give you more customizations due to hunting timber or open water.

Great advice. I'll make note to myself. Expensive duck calls are like expensive guitars....well worth the money!

That's why I like Big River Game Calls. They are wood. They are cheap ($25-$45) but they don't look it. I guess they sound ok, they always get ducks to come in.

I would agree that there is a difference, I have a RNT Blue Devil also and have had it for about 6 years and just replaced the cork, and It sounds just like new. I think you dont have to wory about tuning as much as you would with a wooden or poly call. I have had a BGB Timber call, sounds ok but I traded for some other calls. I have a friend here locally that turns out a great Acrylic call for $90. His calls look and sound like the big names. His name is Jim Chamberlin www.chamberlincalls.com Tell him David sent ya.

I have to be honest i am not a big fan of the RNT calls. i have a acrilic primos "yo sista" and i do love it, although i got a great deal on it 20 buck Gallons had the arcilics on the shellf for 17.99 till i got there HEE HEE HEE. i have to agree with bandchaser there is a big diffrents in poly and acrilic.
For all the cheap calls i have and do not use anymore i could have bought a couple of Gastons calls. Now Big River is a great call for the money. I have 3 big rivers and love everyone of them, and would not trade them for the world. I really love the goose fluts and the 2 duck calls made by them.
NOTE: Do not buy any calls made by QUAKER BOY. Unless its the shaker feeder call. They look good but you can never seem to get the dang thing tuned right.
