This came up on a multinational wargaming board I am a member of. Strangely I find I could be closer to a communist French Vet than a hawk no chance of ever serving America.
Anyway here goes.
I believe in freedom of speech.
I believe in the freedom and means to defend oneself.
I believe in the freedom to pursue life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
I believe if you give up freedom for promised security you will have, nor deserve either.
I believe we are of one race.
I believe in the freedom of and from religion.
I believe that until mankind can put the built in prejudices of religion and race behind us we are screwed.
Personally I do not believe in any established religion.
I believe space is the next ‘new world’ and we best be getting with the program.
I believe there is no shame in nationalism.
I believe there is no dishonor in serving ones country even if I disagree with that country.
I believe that service must be voluntary, not everyone has it in themselves to serve.
I believe we need to as a species get our crap together and move forward.
I also believe since these are my belifes I can contradict and change these as I see fit.

Remeber Hunt that I also support Abortion, I see nothing wrong with Gay mariages and think God has no place in a free and democratic government. Also I am a Union member and am convinced the Republican party would love to be able to make us go away.

I also believe in freedom of speech. That doesn't just mean the speaches that are politically correct. If you don't like what I have to say, you can debate, ignore, or leave.
I also believe in the freedom and means to defend oneself. This not only means physically defending, but also mental defense.
I also believe in the freedom to pursue life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This does not mean anybody is guaranteed they will achieve such...only that they may pursue it.
I believe if you give up freedom for promised security you will have, nor deserve either.
I do not believe we are of one race. I believe all races are of value equal. I believe EVERYBODY's racial, cultural, historical, spiritual, etc differences should be celebrated. Even White Southerners.
I also believe in the freedom of and from religion. This does not mean people should not be allowed to speak publicly about their religion (see the first paragraph).
I believe that mankind can not put the built in prejudices of religion and race behind. I believe only God can fix this.
Personally I do believe in Jesus Christ & His church. I believe you have the right to believe in another God or none at all. I leave it to God to handle those that choose otherwise.
I also believe space is the next ‘new world’ and we best be getting with the program.
I also believe there is no shame in nationalism. I also believe there is no shame in being proud of your regional heritage.
I also believe there is no dishonor in serving ones country even if I disagree with that country. I also believe there is no dishonor in NOT serving your country. Not everyone is up to being a soldier. Their talents could better be used elsewhere.
I also believe since these are my beliefs I can contradict and change these as I see fit. As we grow older (& some of us wiser) we see the world differently.
I believe there are a lot of issues here that I haven't covered. I reserve the right to cover them later. (or not)
;D

Also I am a Union member and am convinced the Republican party would love to be able to make us go away. I am personally against abortion, but I am not going to tell anybody what they should do with their decision. I do believe both the woman & man should have equal say in the decision. The man is given virtually no rights until after birth. That is unfair. I believe marriage is between a man, woman, & God. It is not an institution of government & they should get out of it. Make all legal unions (gay or straight) a 'Civil Union'. If you want a "marriage" you would have to go to a religious leader. If a man chooses to bed with a man or a woman choses to bed with a woman, that is for God to handle. Not me or the government. I believe the government should not be run by the church (Catholic, Jew, Baptist, Muslim, etc). I also believe that a religious person should not be excluded from the Democratic process. Just because someone has strong religious convictions should not exclude them (or be a tool used to smear them) from public office. I am also a Union member & I believe there is no political party looking out for the wants & needs of the middle class American.

I certainly wouldn't disagree with any of that. The only problem I would see on the marriage thing is the supreme courts ruling that seperate but equal is a no go. Also if you go that route you would have to have Christian weddings, Jewish weddings, Moslem weddings, and so on. And end the end which is more important anyway, a piece of paper or the relationship between two adults. Or for that matter more since polygamy dosent bother me aslong as it works for the parties involved.
I also agree 100% on the religous and office thing. It seems to rear its head in every election here in Alabama. What church some politician attends has zero impact on his performance in my opinion and is just another means to avoid dealing with real issues.
As far as the race thing goes I was more reffering to the human race than anything else. There is nothing wrong with having pride in ones heriatge. Its when that heritage as used as a political thing that the problems arise in my mind.

And end the end which is more important anyway, a piece of paper or the relationship between two adults. There would be no seperation with what I propose. The government would perform NO marriages. Just like baptism, Barmitzpha (sp?), etc. For legal purposes (taxes, insurance, child custody, etc) a civil union would be granted by the government for any type of couple (male/male, female/female, male/female). As far as which church would be allowed to grant a marriage...any church should be. Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Church of What's Happening Now, etc. Each church would have their qualifications. God will judge who got it right. Headache settled for Uncle Sam. The 'piece of paper' is what all this civil union/marriage debate is all about. If the paper didn't matter, there would be no argument.

Damn bro...everything cept THAT! 2 men have NO business boinkin each other. I agree. Homosexuality is a sin. But then again so is cheating on your spouse, gossip, abortion, & a multitude of other items that the government doesn't regulate (or regulates wrong). The government can avoid a ton of headache by giving marriage back to the church. God will handle it in His own time & in His own way. I have enough trouble with my own sins & trying to raise a family in these troubled times. I don't have time to make sure everybody else doesn't sin. I will however give my opinion if given the opportunity.
