It was an excellent camping trip, did some ice fishing, hit 3 lakes and caught fish in all of them.
Coming back from Alford lake on Friday evening we had a big old cow moose standing on the trail. She wouldn't get off of it and just walked in front of us until she found a place to jump over the bank and get into the trees.I didn't want to crowd her so we hung back about 20 yards and let her take her time.
It was a really nice day on saturday, not a cloud in the sky and the sun still has a little strength to it and were able to fish without bundeling up in parkas.Hands got cold on the ride out from Tay but I just stop and put my hands on the exhaust on the atv to warm them up.Knowing there was a whiskey and a hot meal back at camp didn't hurt either ;D.
I cut up a deer roast into 2 inch thick steaks and slow cooked them in the cast iron skillet with all the fixens, mushrooms, onions, green peppers and assorted seasonings. We had boiled potatos seasoned with dill and garlic.I was a bit skeptical about that but they turned out quite nice.
The wolves saranaded for us on saturday night for about a half hour. They were close, just on a ridge a 1/4 mile across the Tay River.I can't remember the stars being so bright that night either.
Now I'm really looking forward to the next trip.
