If yall would say a prayer for my mom she was told one week agi Friday she has stage 3 emphysema (close to stage 4 which leads to death). I guess its a blessing in a way since this scared her enough to stop smoking. She chained smoked ( 3 packs a day atleast) as long as I can rmember but has been smoke free just over a week now.

I hope she continues to be quit. My Grandpa had it and never quit smoking. He found out he had it in the 80s and gave up doing anything, but he lived until 2000. I would imagine a person that gave up smoking and kept up a fairly active life would live a lot longer. I cant remember my grandpa even going outside of his house the last 4 or 5 years he was alive.
