I went to a stand in my cut-over that I had never seen a deer from. But I figured it was as good as any with the rut being in. I was in the stand about 10 minutes. I had TRAILS END sent out and hit my Primos can tree times and waited. Right after I hit the can I heard something coming through the woods to my left. I saw legs and then some bone sticking out his head. He was small but a buck just the same. I drew and he came right to the sent. I shot straight down through him, GUT SHOOT. He walked about ten feet, behind a tree giving me no shoot and stood there in great pain. I watched him, feeling like crap because I made a bad shoot. Then I heard something coming from behind me. I looked and saw a decent 8 maybe 10 pointer coming. I hit the can again. He came in and stopped. He did not like something, I think it was the other deer. He blew and trotted off. I hit the can and he came back trying to circle around me. I had one shoot, took it, hit a small branch, arrow hit a tree sideways and broke with a LOUD snap. Deer ran. I hit the can and grunted, he came back. By this time the other deer started trying to walk away. So I decided to shoot him again and not worry about the other deer. I had a good shot that time and he went about 60 yards. I use Hammerheads by Rocket, those thing are nasty. When I found him his guts were outside his body. He is no monster, but that had to be one of my most memorable hunts ever.
