Have any of y'all ever had any luck in the rain? I can't remember but seeing one deer when it was raining, but I've not hunted in it that much. The reason I ask is I'm thinking about going tomorrow after work(if I get home in time) and they're saying a 100% chance of rain, but the temps are supposed to drop from 80 today to the mid 50's tomorrow and I could either hunt from my stand where the acorns are pouring right now, or if it's pretty windy I could glass a good sized bedding area and maybe try a little stalking. What would you all do? 1. Stay at home 2. hunt the stand 3. try to spot one bedded and set up a stalk. This weekend I'll probably start hunting in the next county over where I've had pretty good luck in the past and actually have a better idea of how the deer move than I do here at the house.

I know the rain bothers me more than them, I'm just trying a few different different things this year, like hunting in the rain and less than perfect conditions. My main goal is to get more time in the woods and take advantage of getting home early enough from work for some good evening hunts here close to the house.

I don't like to bow hunt in the rain due to the blood trail washing away but I have and have had decent luck. During the rut or pre rut if I know where there is a hot scrape you can believe I'll be sitting on=ver it when the rain stops because the bucks will be comming to freshen it up as soon as the rain lets up.

I killed a decent 6pt a few years back in a downpour.
It had been raining off and on for a couple of hours and I was trying to wait it out until dark but about 45 minutes before dark it started raining to beat the band. I was just about to get down when I looked behind me and this buck was walking with it's head down directly towards me. I drew my bow back and when I went to anchor a drop of rain fell into my peep. I had to let down my bow, blow the water out of my peep, and re-draw, good thing the buck had it's head down. By this time the buck had walked past me but at a good angle. I popped him at 23 yds and he didn't run over 50 yds before piling up.
There would have been ZERO chance of blood trailing him.

I decided to hunt out of my stand yesterday, wasn't too bad. Still didn't see any deer though. I love where the stand is and it's tore up with sign, but I'm going to let it rest for awhile.

Good idea DS. I've hunted mornings, evenings and from noon till dark one day and still haven't seen deer. It is pretty much in the same area that we took well over 120 pics last year and I'd say only 12 to 15 were taken in the daytime.........it's just frustrating to have that much sign and never see a deer.
