I picked up a 2 new pieces of property to hunt. I gave up both my leases this year thinking I would just hunt on the farm and then a buddy called me last weekend and said he had leased about 800acres of crop land and pecan orchards to plant winter wheat for his cows since his hay was a bust this year. Owner of the property said we could hunt the 196 acres bordering the 800 acres free of charge since he could no longer hunt. Its pretty thick stuff with alot of oaks so we will be up there putting up stands and doing some mowing and planting the next 2 weeks. When my buddy starts to disc the cotton stalks in the big field we should have deer coming into the 196acre like crazy. Don't knowwhat it is about cotton fields that deer love but have never seen a cotton field even avter it been sprayed that isn't tore up with deer sign. My boss also just leased 400 acres for one of his customers to be able to hunt but gave me and one of the other service techs permission to hunt it anytime. Don't know how much hunting I'll do there but we'll see. Its in probably the best county in Fl. for producing big deer and its in a great area of the county so should be some prime property.

I was gonna take it easy this year so I didn't have so much working on property instead of hunting property but at least I'll have my buddy helping with the mowing and planting. Usually its just me either because I am the only one hunting or in the case of the lease I was on down here the last few years I was the only one with a tractor. Wish we would have had more time to get it ready but we'll see how it goes. I am gonna concentrate on hunting my farm first part of the season as I ahave seen some nice bucks the last couple of months.
