Saturday afternoon we were sitting in a stand of Oak trees that the deer come to every year. Within 30 minutes of us gettin in the trees, my husband had a doe come in under his tree and he got her. But we decided to sit until dark, in case something else came in. Well, about 630 PM, I looked behind me and saw a buck feeding under an oak tree out of range. So I told my husband by radio, and we waited to see if he would come by me or my husband. I was able to put an arrow in him at about 27 yards, and he took off running into the woods. I found a blood trail within 3 yards of where I shot him. Well, we followed the trail for 2 hours, then lost it. By now it was 10 PM, and we needed to get the doe to the processor, so I marked the last spot with my orange vest, and we left. We came back the next morning, and found the buck about three hours later. It had run about 350 yards from where I shot it. Only thing was, the coyotes had found him first. So I got the rack (10 points) but none of the deer meat. My husband got the rack for me because it is the largest buck I have shot with a bow. I was happy cause it was a tough trail, and I stuck with it, but sad cause I really wanted the meat for the freezer. But so far, we have gotten 5 deer, recovered 4, and taken three to the processor. And boy are they healthy down here. Hope everyone else is doing well too!!
