Christmas came early this year. Finall after chasing him all season and not so much as a single sighting I finally got the big 10pt buck I saw the last weekend of last season. Took off to my lease in Ga. Thursday, against the wifes wishes, and Friday morning got in a stand I had relocated last week. About 9 am I pulled out The Can and did a couple of bleats and threw in a few tending grunts with it. About 10 minutes later I heard a deer coming through the thick stuff off to my right and could catch glimpses of him. I couldn't tell if it was a buck or doe but I stud up and got in position to shoot.
When I saw where he was fixing to come out of the thick stuff onto the road I came to full draw and as soon as he stepped out on the road he hit the scent trail I had laid down and came to a dead stop. I saw it was a buck and made a perfect 16 yrd shot. I still didn't realize how big he was until I recovered him, good thing cause if I had taken time to really look at his horns I would have gotten so nervous my arrow would have wound up in the next county. I'll post the pics soon as the wife gets home. Oh and to make up for going even though she didn't want me to I called it and early weekend and came home a day early.
