Ok, heres the deal. I want to make my own hunting blind. I cant afford the $450 for a Double Bull blind like I want, so I am going to try to make one. The ones that are for sale in the catalogs all have a fairly low roof line, and I want something I can shoot my longbow out of. Does anyone know where I can get good camo material to make the blind with? I gotta make it about 6'6" high. Anyone got any idea of the framework? I was thinking of using conduit, or something along those lines. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I didn't get to try it out this year but I made one from a canvas tourist tent. The frame is external so I just painted it a dull green and brown.I camo'd the canvas with dye by painting it on with a brush and it came out quite well.I cut out shooting windows and used the shoot thru screen and it attaches with velcro.

Bucktales, ameristep makes good blinds. I have the doghouse, and it works just as good as those high priced D/B blinds. the penthouse is only $159.00 in tangle camo. here's the specs on it- it's 6'4" square and 7'6" tall. you can get it in breakup for $199.00 it has the blackend interior, edge releaf, shoot through camo mesh windows. it has a total of 12 windows. I've got a home made .I'll put up the picture of it if imagestation ever gets back up.

I bought a Hunter View popup blind from Walmart for about $60. It is big enough that I can stand up in the center (I'm 5'7"). Should be plenty big enough to shoot a long bow from a sitting position.

I had access to some good commercial sewing machines and made a blind over the winter a few years ago. I still have it. I never used it. It takes about 10 minutes to set up, is 5 sided with windows and zippers and made with two distinctly different camo patterns. Two sides a brushy looking I forget what it's called and the other 3 are Realtree Xtra Brown. I made it with shock corded tent poles I got at Walmart. It's really cool. A friend used it a couple times. I'll have to set it up when the snow melts and take some pictures. By the way, you won't save much money. With the materials, the poles and I put a canvas bottom in it.... it cost about $100. Although it's much more roomy than most commercial blinds... it's heavier.

Bucktales here's the one I made. I shot at a Big gobbler out of it last spring, but missed. www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid17/p426df420c583a442c33366b6317ffb47/fdfa641e.jpg [/img] it's made out of 2 8x10 camo tarps i got at walmart for $8 a piece. I used tent poles I already had ,and the top is made with 1/2" pvc pipe. it takes over 5 minutes to put up. the whole thing cost about $50.00 but, you'd be better off to get the penthouse, it sets up a lot quicker and is a lot bigger. mine is 5x5x6' tall.
