shot him sat evenin at 4:00. same place that I saw that 6 point 2 days earlier. my longest kill shot to date he was 36yds. I passed on that 6pt because he was standin at the same spot where i shot the 8. I was a little leary of takin a 35yd shot, so I came home the same evenin i passed on the 6, and practiced that 36yd shot almost an hour. from the first arrow i was hittin right around the bread basket. a couple arrows was a little high, and 1 was right behind the ribs. but that gave me the confidence to take the 36yd shot. I had one small problem though, there was a beech tree to the left of my stand, and a limb ran right out between me and the deer. the evenin i saw the 6 the limb was not in the way, but after a small rain, it caused the limb to sag a little, so i had to slide down in my seat to make the shot. that awkward shot caused me to pull off and i hit him dead center of his neck. the arrow hit and poped like i hit a tree. I knew what had happened , because wwhen he took off he couldn't stay on his feet very far at a time. he fell, about 5 or 6 times and finally i heard him crash just across the branch. I knew I had him. that pop i heard at the shot was his spine. I had to have clipped his spine or grazed it, causin him not to be able to stand for very long at a time. I've never saw so much blood from a deer in my life. I must have hit the juglar to. I'll have pictures in a few days.

Mud, just guessin I'd say about 150 lbs maybe 160. the spread was only 13 1/4" inside. typical for our area. the biggist that's been killed in our club in 20years was a 10pt that was taken by gun the first day of gun season. he had about a 15-15 1/2" inside spread and weighed about 175-180 lbs. they just don't get very big in our area rack wise.

I know we have a few Big boys here and there. especially down in the NWR. but these trigger happy gun hunters in our club, don't give the bucks a chance to get big on our lease. I hunt not far from the lousiana line in south central Ar.
