Does yalls work say you have to be there no matter what? Ours sends out memos this time every year saying that there is no excuse for not making it to work and if you cant make it someone will be sent to pick you up. Ive asked who they are going to send If I cant make it and they havent told me yet..... I have been asked to go pick people up and wont, If they called in they most likely dont want to be there anyway. Plus if I wreck im sure Pfizer will buy me a new ride and pay the bills for any injuries that may be caused.

I have a hugh problem with that issue. At some point, the risk of life or damage to property is not worth a days wages. I, personally, would NOT work for someone that cares more about people being at work in inclement weather than they do about the safty of the people that work for them.

They could try that here but wouldn't get very far. When the RCMP close a road due to bad conditions that means it's CLOSED!If you go around a road block and go into the ditch or have an accident your insurance won't cover it and the tow trucks won't get you out.

Straight from the contract "It is recognized that a workman should not report to work if at the normal time of work departure from home the weather at the job site is unsuitable for the type of work he/she is employed or in the event of a lockout, strike, or act of God."
Crap like that is why I am Union. I have worked through two hurricanes, I don't know how many tropical storms, and plenty of ice storms. I have been stranded over a 100 miles away from home with the Interstates closed and had to make it back on state, county and dirt roads.
So you can put me in the same category as hunt on this issue. I have been there done and have no intentions of going back. I work to live. I do not live to work.

I work at the electric factory and I'm on the emergency reponse team in the event of a nuclear accident, so in answer to your question.........Yes I have to be there no matter what.
They will send out for us if we are not equipped to make it in using our own transportation but I have a mighty Dodge Ram that fears NO foul weather. And that's how we got to the plant Tuesday morning in the ice storm.
