My new toy arrived today. I got a Magellan Meridian Gold. So far I have found my way around the county while working, and found my way back to 1 waypoint that I entered, just to try it. I got lots to learn, but it shouldnt be too hard, after a little practice. Now I cant wait for spring, so I can go start scouting, and marking everything in the woods on my new toy. ;D ;D ;D

I always said Hog Wash. You don't need those new fangled do dads. I haven't needed them for 60 years so why start now.
SOoooooo... my son gets me one for Xmas. Before I opened the package I took it back to Bass Pro and upgraded to the Legend.
Great little toy. I love it. I've been all over the place, saved and deleted more tracks and routes. I also logged onto that GeoCaching site where people hide things and you have to find them. So far I've gone to 3. It's really fun and you get some exercise. There are bunches of these things all over the world. It's a different game.
Then today I decided to circle this one woods. We can only hunt a portion of it and you couldn't really tell what was in what direction from you. We had to track one deer into never never land a little this year and I worried about where we were headed and how we'd get the critter out. Anyway. Today I marked the center of our piece, drove the perimeter marking some easily recognized spots. Now I no where I'm headed and what's ahead. For example, I didn't realize it but there's a big Horsemans Club a meer 400 yards from us. Never knew they were that close or in WHAT direction exactly. They had their gate open so I drove in and marked the OK coral. ;D
It'll be great in the Adirondacks.

Best use Ive gotten out of mine is when a turkey gobbles but wont come in you can use it to come in from behind him. Usually they will come in to you then.

Geocaching ---- One of the guys at work does this. He has a good time running all across the country lookin for stuff. If I didn't hunt or fish on the weekends I could see myself getting into this. ----- So little time. www.geocaching.com/

I went to one today that was truly a chore. The description of it said, "not for those with heart conditions or out of shape". I took the direct route. In his clues he said it would be easier to take the "Upper trail". Well, I missed the upper trail, walked along the river and then had to make a near verticle climb on frozen slippery ground. It's mature woods in a State park/wilderness place so not much undergrowth. I had to zig my way up as there weren't trees to grab onto handy. I found the cache though....KOOL>
