Looks like I may have found a new buddy - a 9 week old orange & white Brittany pup. They say that her parents are hunting fools and that she's the one they'd keep if they were going to keep one out of this litter. I'm way fired up. It's been almost two years since I had Tres put down. I think I'm driving up to get her on Friday. Any suggestions on a name? So far I've got Dixie, Star, and Belle but the wife says that all female dogs are named Belle now. Dixie is the early round leader at this point.

seriously, I have always heard that you should give them a name that ends in o. That way when you holler for them the o sound travels further and the dog can hear you better. maybe that will help you.

i've never heard that about the "O"...makes sense though. i've always heard to use a one syllable (sp?) names if they're gonna be a huntin' dog. my next one is gonna be Dale...doesn't matter what sex it is cause dale can be both. we had a star...she ended up being called star pup most the time...she was an awesome dog. there's also: ellie (ellie mae) dannie patches freckles dakota river brook (i like hannah from above) brittany bailey zoey rory reba faith brandy sam (short for samantha)....and that's all my brain will allow me to process. ;D damn this addicting..lol mabel i like belle also. gator haley jenny can't think of anything that ends in o's....cept boy names:( and j-lo

If the thing about the "O" is followed you could always name her "Jo Jo", like Jo Jo Starbuck. It could be shortened to JOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo for calling or Joooo JooooOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo... either way it rings.

I'm printing these and I'm thinking that my 4 yr old will be the one to make the choice. However, I am reserving to right to overrule her.
I'm NOT going to be in the middle of the bird field yelling "C'mere Tinkerbell"
Good ideas, I like Cleo, Callie, & Reba. Still like Belle and Dixie.
Thanks for the ideas. Feel free to put up some more.

i agree but technically it's correct terminology (sp?) for a female dog.
