Depends on where it is. In Lakeridge down by Joe Pool Lake, they are selling lot sized property for $350,000 to $2,000,000. Hill Country is also EXPENSIVE!! South Texas, South West Texas and West Texas the land would be more reasonable. Be careful with that $500 an acre add.....could be sand dunes.

My inlaws live in Gatesville, about 30 or so miles WSW of Waco. Land around there can be had for $800 - $1000/acre (probably around 100 acres) and it's perfect for a guy like me who wants to run some cows for the agricultural exemption and still hunt deer, turkeys, hogs, dove, etc. The land at that price is usually pretty brushy. Lots of cedar (juniper, actually) prickly pear, and rocks, but a person who's willing to put the work in to clear it can have a heck of a nice hunting spot and a great place to build a house. Digging a well can be an expensive process, depending on how deep the water table is under your land and setting fenceposts can be a downright adventure.
My dad's place is between Lampasas and Burnet, the heart of Central Tx deer country and only about an hour SW of Gatesville. 100 acres down there will run you about $1400/acre or so.
Just like anywhere else, it does depend on where you buy and also how much land you're looking to buy. The larger tracts costs less per acre and the land is cheaper away from the larger towns and cities.

That still aint bad. $2500 here might get you a crappy acre.

C'mon down (or over) brutha. I don't know if we have any employers that make little pills, but we could get you hooked up with something.
We need more Texas residents on here anyway. I'm worrying about how I'll make it all the way to Shorthair's for the big SHF parties.

Ive thought about looking into buying some of the cheaper land (50 or so acres) for the hell of it. Might be worth having to take vacation to every year.
