Im ready to buy a GOOD digital camera ( handheld, not a remote). Never used one so I was wondering what I should get. I want the absolute best quality picture ( maybe a 5 megapixel) that I can get. A zoom lense would be good also. I want to use it for general purpose as well as out in the woods while sitting in a stand. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated. Im willing to spend up to around $900.

My wife's company has a Sony digital camera. It takes very good pictures. I don't know any thing about digital cameras but every entertainment appliance in my house is Sony and that's all I will buy.

Fujifilm S700 & S602 Nikon 5700 I have used the above cameras ---- Nice, very nice. check them out at www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.htmlBenhuntin --- One of the very best cameras that I have ever seen was a 4 meg Fuji. It took as good a picture as a camera that cost twice as much. Got a friend that takes pictures for a living,(neked wemons ) I'll ask him whats hot in the world of digital cameras.

I like the digital video cameras. You get digital video as well as still shot options. Also, the zoom tends to be better than the still only cameras. Check out the Sony models.

I love my Olympus Ultra Zoom 720. It's an 8 power optical zoom. The newer version of it is 10 power optical. It's a 3.1 megapixels. I really don't think you need any more than that. It takes some great pictures. Mdbowhunter just bought one too. I bought mine on Ebay about a year and a half ago with all kinds of extras. At that time it cost me $620. The camera at the time by itself was listed at $699. If you go looking at 5 megapixels you're talking more than $900 I think.
