I went to Cabela's (I can see it from my house) and got a Limb Saver recoil butt pad for the 16 and finally finished all the wood. I did the wood in a dark walnut. I had to sand it forever because some moron carved his initials in it. I got all the metal looking good and the receiver taken apart and cleaned up real nice.
Opening day is this Friday so that'll be the first I get to fire it.
I wish I could find my camera. I'd post pics of it.

I bet it looks good. When I worked at the chair factory I done all the finishes on new stuff and in my spare time I would refinish rifles and shotguns for myself and people that worked there. Never was very good at blueing them tho.

did you sand out the carving or put some filler in it? I sanded it all out. I'm surprised it turned out as well as it did.

It shoot VERY smooth. I put that LimbSaver but pad on it and it really points and recoils well.
Can't hit a damn thing with it.
