In most of my rifles I like to go with the middle wieghts, but in the 260 I shoot the 120grn ballistic tips which are the lightest I can find and shoot 150grn hornady custom spire points in my 300winmag wich are light for the caliber

I like the 150 gr Winchester Supreme PPP+ in my 7mm. I get max retention and expansion.

I like the big and heavy..I shoot 180gr power points..have tried the pointed soft points and like them too....no tracking the deer...everyone I have ever shot has fallen right there...
I had shot my first buck with the fast ight caliber and had to track him..not far but still had to look for him after I shot

Something to consider:
I like my 7mm Rem Mag. Those of you that know me know this by now. One of my buddys that I hunt with won't hunt with anything other than a .45-70. He hunts ONLY heavy brush and takes short shots and the land he hunts almost always will put a hog in your path.
So I guess what I'm saying is......depends on application.
Heavy brush with hog: .45-70 Long Texas Panhandle shots on pronghorns: 7mm Rem Mag

I like heavy bullets. in the 30.30 its 170 in 30.06 its 180 and i love the 45.70 but i actualy use lighter bullets in it the 300 gr for deer but i think the 405 gr would be better for hogs.
close up i actualy think there is no better game stoper than the 45.70 "at least on what i hunt."
my cousion uses a 338 most of the time he used 200gr.

I reload for all my firearms and like the lighter bullets. For my 7 mag I like the Speer 145gr spitzer over a load of IMR 4831 58.5gr.It gives me a muzzle vel. of about 2780 fps.Used that load last year to kill a white tail in her tracks at 500 yards.

This sounds like the same 'cop out' you read in all the mags, but it depends on where & how you hunt. In close, tangled swamps I prefer my 30-06 with 150gr soft points. In more open terrain, I prefer a .243 with 100gr soft points. The best answer is whichever gun you feel most comfortable with is the best gun to hunt with.

I'm a speed freak..and like to hunt at the bottom end of the bullet weight chart for a specific caliber. I reload and use lightest bullets that will hold up with high velocities.
