I'm gonna try and get down there and hit that lake myself. I've heard some great catfishing stories from there!

I've been hitting the pay lakes pretty good. I saw a pic in the local paper where a 15 year old boy caught a 80 pounder........The bad part is I was sitting right beside of him the night he caught it and i left early. I like catching the big ones but mainly just go after a good mess of fillets.

I haven't been strictly catfishing yet though we have caught several & lost 8 or 10 in the 5 lb range on our light crappie poles. I'll be after them as soon as the crappie finish their spawn. ;D

Here's the deal on the paylakes hunter316....you pay a set price normally 12 bucks to fish for 8-12 hours depending on the lake. The three that I fish at have a 12 fish limit. If you catch your limit or you time is up you either leave or repay to fish another 8-12 hours or catch another 12 fish. They are stocked 2-3 times a week with up to 2000 pound of cats each time. One of the lakes stocks 2000 pounds of nothing under 20 pounds on Friday nights. If they have a tournament they will stock it heavy and the people entered in it keep what they catch(no limit)The winner will be the person with the most fish not the most weight. Of course the biggest fish wins a prize too. Normally after the tournament they'll stock some monsters in the 30-85 pound range and the person that catches the biggest one. wins a jar of money that was the entry fee for the biggest fish contest, usually 200-300 dollars.........I think the kid that caught the 80 pounder won 215 bucks. The three that I fish are actually more like ponds than lakes. I'd say that somewhere between 50 and 75 people could fish comfortable.

Where are they located? I would like to check one of them out. Would I need a Kentucky license?

Well that's one of the good things. You dont need a license. The closest one to you is in Whitesburg probaby 10-15 miles from the KY/VA state line. Whitco pay lake is the name of it. Then the next one is probably 10 more miles down on KY15. it's called 4 star village pay lake. The next one is called Chris's pay lake and it's so far back in the sticks I cant even begin to give directions. ;D

Which one do you think is the best one?

Whitco and Chris's are the two best IMO. At Whitco you could probably have a better chance at catching more fish. Chris's stocks bigger fish on Friday nights so you would probably catch bigger ones there.
Then you may go to either one and not catch a thing...... It all depends on what they are biting and the location where you fish. I've only went to whitco and not caught anything twice in the last three years, So I would say it would probably be your best bet.
