I got to slip down to the river today to see if I could land a fish or two. I arrived, and there were a few vehicles, which is usually a bad sign. I like to fish by myself. I walked down to the river, and met up with the old timers, that I only get to see 1 or 2 times a year.
Well, they told me the fishing was slow, although one of them caught the biggest Steelhead of his life, and it was in the cooler in the truck ready to go to the taxidermist. I BS's with them for a while, and then hit the water. Things started out pretty slow. I missed a few fish. Then, a weather front was moving in, and the temps dropped. It was like someone flipped the switch, and the fish started biting. I landed a beautiful female, and a male that had been in the river for a while. I had to get going, so I give one of the old timers all the secrets to the hole, and I left. All in all, one of my most enjoyable days on the river, even though I have caught more fish in a day that this.
