I took the wife to Lake Talquin Wednsday to try a little crappie fishing. We picked up a few here and there but the cold front that came through Tuesday night had them moved back out into deeper water. She wasn't impressed when she caught a couple of 9inchers and had to throw them back cause the lake has a 10inch minimum. First time I had been to this lake in probably 7 or 8 years but I grew up on it and its still my favorite fishing hole. Amazingly after so long I still remembered all my old hot spots and all the creeks and coves around the lake. Any of ya'll want to do some serious crappie fishing should try it out, 11/2lbs is normal and 3lbers are caught regularly.

At least you caught a couple of fish. Things should pick up out there by next week as long as it stays warm. The first time I fished talquin i didnt know about the new 10 inch crappie rule. Luckily Mr. Game Warden wasnt waiting at the boat ramp.
