Was at Gander Mountains saturday. picked up a few Strike King VanDam Wild Shiners --- Floaters with the red hooks. --- Anyone tried the new baits with the red hooks? --- What do you think about the red hook craze?

I have some red 5/0 and 6/0 Gamakatsu octopus hooks. To be honest with you I dont believe for a minute they will land me any more catfish than normal, I just thought they looked cool and it couldnt hurt anything. As for lures brother I couldnt tell you, that out of my league there. I would think perhaps for spookier fish that are always wary they may land more fish. After a couple of trips, the red coating seems to wear off anyhow. I couldnt hurt to try them out. Peace, Bill

I'm thinking about the same as you billy. I use Gamakatsu octopus hooks also, but in a much smaller size(4,6 and 8) don't see much need for the red, but use them anyway.

Hah,,,,funny you ask......I just posted about this very thing in the Circle Hooks thread a few seconds ago.
We did a guided striper trip a couple of years ago and the guide had circle hooks in red and yellow. We caught almost all out fish on the yellow. Only one on the red.
