Going out saturday and try and bust a few song dogs. Was out at my buds place monday evening and we saw six,but they were on his neighbors place,we have since then procured permission to shoot them.I also spotted a den, actually saw the coyote go into it,we'll set up in the draw and see if we can call them in.
On a side note, just before I left around sunset,40 mule deer came up out of the draw and into my buds property. There were still three bucks wearing antlers and two with only one side dropped.Gonna write my name on one of those guys and look for them come Sept ;D.

[/img]Well it was a bust on getting any dogs, but we had fun trying. The weather was a big factor, the wind was gusting and blowing snow.We had three dogs right off the git go,but they were 500 yards out.One was lying on top of the den and two more were down in the draw.We set up for the two dogs in the bottom but couldn't get them to come in close.I ranged one at 450 yards,so Ron set up on his bipod and waited for a lull in the wind and I spotted the shots for him.First shot I couldn't see and the yote just stood there, his second shot blew up at its feet, that's when he knew the jig was up and headed out of the country. The second dog started to follow. My rifle was already set up so I got on him and waited for it to stop.My shot hit in front of him and it turned him back from where it was running, before I could set up on it again it, made it to the den and got in.We knew we were'nt going to see them again, but the ground squirrels were on the move,so that gave us new targets. My 243 accounted for three kills in access of 325 yards. That little 105gr spitzer just turns em into pink mist ;D. This is a pic of us going back to Ron's place, that's him on the left, and that's another of my friends Larry to the right. The pic doesn't show it,but the wind was howling and it was about 15 below.By the time we got back to the cabin half my face was bout frozen. Ron just bought this place in December,$350,000 for 11 acres.
