I got him!
I got about 150 to 200 yards of his roost this morning as daylight was breaking. He was gobbling from the moment I left the truck to walk to him. I set up as soon as I found a nice spot and called to him. He imediately answered the call. I only called to him about four times and had him laying on the ground in 10 minutes. I was using The Freak frictionite call by Primos which has to be the best call I have ever owned! I shot him with an old Stevens pump with 3" magnum Remington Nitro #5 shot. He had a 10 and a 1/4 inch beard and 1inch spurs.

I never did weigh him but figure some where around 20.

Well I've got two so far. The last one was a Jake but my daughter was with me and I wanted her to see one called in and shot. She got kinda figedy but stayed still long enough to get him and his two brothers in. Tickled her pink! ;D I have one last tag left and will try and fill it sometime before season ends hopefully!  |
