Hi everybody, I am back. I just got home from my parents, and I got a turkey. I hunted on Friday morning. My dad, and my buddy went with me to see if we could get a good one on video. We got in the blind at 6:30 a.m. and seen a whole lot of nothing. We had deer and squirrels everywhere out in the picked corn field from last fall. We never even seen a turkey by 10:00a.m. At 10:00 my buddies brother in law drove his pickup down the trail about 30 yards behind us, and he had his grandson with him. They started talking, so we decided to call it a day. As were were standing there shooting the breeze, my buddy says "get down", and thats when I saw a turkey step out of the woods at the far end of the field. Then, another turkey steps out. Both were Toms, and looked like good sized birds. So, 5 people squeeze into the blind to see whats gonna happen. When the 2 toms were about 200 yards out, a third, bigger Tom stepped out of the woods. We waited until they got in to 17 yards, I picked out the biggest bird, and fired. He dropped like a ton of bricks, and never moved a muscle. Apparently I didnt let him get turned enough, because I shot off part of his beard. The remained part was 10 1/2", it has 1 1/8" spurs, and weighed an even 23 pounds. Not a bad bird, but what a Chinese Fire Drill we had to get that bird. Hopefully this pic shows up. Its the only pic I got, due to operator malfunction by my camera man. Dont these spurs seem big around? Seem odd to me.

Thanks, I'm pretty happy with it. I am going to post a pic of the spurs today sometime. I know very little about turkeys, but the spurs on this thing seem wierd. They are real big around. Do they get bigger around when the bird gets older? I'll also put the beard in there so you can see what #5 shot does to them.
