Now that I have totally been sucked into this turkey hunting, its obvious that I NEED a new shotgun. Looking at the Mossberg 835 or the Remington 870. Any comments or suggestions on these guns or any other gun would be appreciated. Thanks!

I guess the 835's are alright, but I'm an 870 fan and IMO you can have a better gun for just a little bit more money.

Thanks Strut, thats kinda what I was thinking. I have an old 870 and its been great. Was just thinking that for turkey use only, the 835 would work. But I think I'll just get the 870 in super mag, I know I can't go wrong that way.

Yeah I 've got an 870 super-mag, I have thought about a Browning and a Benelli but I know what my 870 will do and not sure about them. My 870 with a 660 ported Rhino choke and Nitro Hevi-Shot #5's is awesome.

I have 2 Mossbergs 500's and I love em. One of em I've had since I was 16. I'm 38 now. Never had a problem with either one and the older one is still my favorite....I don't even know how many rounds go through is in a season....not to mention the extensive range time it gets throughout the year. You would be astonished at the price on one at Walmart. Hell of a gun in my opinion.
Good luck bro.....glad to see a new member enter the hunting community AND get the kiddos involved right from the get go!
Keep em in the woods, keep em out of trouble.

If you are on a tight Budget the Mossberg is the way to go. Me being the puss that I am want my 3 1/2" gun to be gas operated so I went with a Browning Gold. Only reason I Have the Gold is because they didnt have a 3 1/2" Benelli in town yet.

I was in Wally World today and saw the 870 super mag for $298 and they had the Mossberg in 3 1/2" for $209. I also like the BPS and the Gold. My son shoots a Gold in 3 1/2" and I really like it to. How often have you guys gotten more than one shot off at a turkey? Is it worth looking at the autos for a quick second shot?

Oh, I also have unloaded the Gold on a jake that was too close. After all that I hit him with the 1st shot after reloading...
